Post-Incident Debriefing - Group and Individual Support
Potentially traumatising incidents are, unfortunately, a common reality for people living and working in social care settings. These can include violence, medical emergencies, deaths, fires, flooding, and other serious incidents. Repeated exposure to these events can have a significant impact on both physical and mental health, increasing the risk of stress, burnout, sickness absence, and reduced team wellbeing.
Psychological debriefing provides a structured approach to supporting individuals and teams following exposure to potentially traumatising incidents. It creates a safe space for reflection, emotional expression, and shared understanding, while helping people make sense of what has happened. Debriefing can also support the normalisation of common trauma responses and help teams identify opportunities for recovery, resilience, and post-traumatic growth.
At Beheard Care, our skilled facilitators use best-practice debriefing protocols to guide group sessions with care and sensitivity. We also provide tailored signposting and individual sessions for staff who may need further support following an incident, ensuring that both individuals and teams receive the right level of care at the right time.
